The primary goal of naturopathic treatment is to address the cause of illness, rather than simply treat or suppress symptoms. The patient is seen as a whole person and the ND takes the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions into account when diagnosing and developing a treatment plan. Each treatment plan is designed specifically for the individual patient. Naturopathic medicine emphasizes patient education with the intention of empowering individuals toward self responsibility and control over their own health.

 

 

What can I expect from a naturopathic doctor?

 

Visiting an ND is a unique health care experience. All patients are cared for in a thorough and holistic manner.

 

First Visit:

The first visit can last approximately 60 to 90 minutes and consists of an extensive health history intake and a discussion of your present health concerns. A complaint based physical exam will be conducted and live cell microscopy (optional) will be performed. Relevant laboratory tests may be suggested if necessary.

Second Visit:

The second visit can last approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Any further health details are collected at this time and a complete physical exam will be conducted. The ND, having assessed your case, will outline the initial suggested treatment plan.

 

Subsequent Visits:

Subsequent appointments vary from 30 to 45 minutes and may consist of implementing specific in-office naturopathic treatment plans, monitoring the effectiveness of previously prescribed treatments or expanding on the treatment plan. Your future health will also be considered through an emphasis on disease prevention.
